Phytosociological studies of grassland communities of Southern Aravalli Hills of Rajasthan are reported in the present communication. It was observed that Heteropogon contortus and Sehima nervosum are more frequent on plain and hillock areas of grassland communities respectively. Heteropogon contortus had the highest density (98.4 individuals/m2) on plain area and Aristida funiculata had the highest density (104.8 individuals/m2) on hillock area. Aristida funiculata was most abundant grass on plain as well as hillock area. Maximum importance value index was shown by Heteropogon contort us and Aristida funiculata on plain and hillock area respectively. The high value (0.047) of dominance index was recorded on hillock area, while low value (0.039) on plain area. Diversity index was found to be negatively correlated (r =-1.00) with dominance index.

The rural poverty has increased by 10.16% 0991-1997) meaning the number of rural people currently living below the poverty line, are nearly 290 million. While embarking upon joint forest management experiments it is important to realize that the people living close to forests are still facing the fundamental problems like where they are going to get their next meal from. "Thin sampling" of JFM cases should be revisited in-depth to ascertain the processes, outcomes, and lessons for strengthening the cause of conservation. In fact it indicates the further research needs to strengthen the JFM institutions. The lack of capabilities deprives an individual! a group to take advantage of opportunities, and the same opportunities are likely to be squandered or misused by influential vested interests. Eorests&wildlife has evolved over centuries, and that is vanishing fast. To protect it, legal enforcement capabilities of the forest department are also strengthened to check the dominating vested interest while the greater understanding of the system, and its objectives, and the gradual and positive participation of every person at village level in JFM institutions is ensured. And, if JFM has to succeed further, there must be a well-conceived capacity building programme for all participants- people, NGOs, and foresters, supported by earnest scientific studies based on rural realities.- Epidemiology of Sudden Unexpected Natural Medico-legal Deaths in Central Delhi

Objectives: To study the epidemiological, magnitude, clinical, and pathological characteristics of sudden unexpected non-violent deaths (SUNDs) in central Delhi.Material & Method: Autopsy based retrospective study of all SUNDs carried out in the Department of Forensic Medicine, Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi. All records were studied in detail; age, sex, time and month of date, cause of death etc.
Results: Total 2773 medico-legal autopsies were conducted from 1st January, 2006 to 31st December 2010. Out of that, 915 (32.99%) cases were of SUNDs. Male and female ratio was 13:1. The maximum 279 (30.49%) sudden deaths were reported in age group 41-50 years followed by 51-60 years i.e. 201 (21.96%). The most common cause of death in all age groups including all identified and unidentified individuals was pulmonary pneumonitis (n=508, 55.76%) followed by tuberculosis (n=175, 19.20%) and CAD (n=144, 15.73%). But in identified individual alone CAD was commonest (n=135, 36.78%) cause of SUNDs and followed by Pulmonary pneumonitis (32.97%). Maximum 122 (13.33%) deaths were reported in September.
Conclusion: Observations suggest that most of the SUNDs were due to preventable causes and meticulous autopsy and study of histopathology and toxicological analysis could be important to ascertain the cause of death.

Suicidal hangings are rarely encountered by crime scene investigators, while evidence of suicidal deaths are usually more common and recognizable. There have been cases where the victim has attempted to disguise suicidal hanging as a case of homicide with suspicion of foul play. Sometimes it poses difficult challenges to investigating officers. Most of the reported cases of suicidal deaths staged as homicide involve death by gun shot. Few authors have reported suicidal deaths staged as accidents. Most of such suicides staged as accidents involved the use of motor vehicle. The following case is a case of a suicidal hanging in which the victim has tied his upper limbs behind his back, which creates a suspicion of homicide. But the findings from the scene of crime investigation and autopsy made it evident that the manner of death by hanging was suicidal in nature.Keywords

Hitherto unreported folk medicinal uses of 41 species of plants belonging to 29 families used by the tribals of Southern Rajasthan have been dealt in this paper. Some plants with important ethnomedicinal new uses are Aegle marmelos, Leucas aspera and Pongamia pinnata in migraine; Acacia leucophloea as contraceptive; Borassus flabelifer, Grewia orientalis and Ziziphus xylopyra in developing complete sterility in female while Cocculus villosus in male; Citrus medica in kidney stone; Crinum asiaticum in breast cancer; Cryptolepis buchanani in piles; Gardenia turgida and Luffa acutangula as antidote in animal bite; lchnocarpus frutescens in swollen gums; Lannea coromandelica in earache; Nyctanthes arbortristis in obesity; Euphorbia acaulis, Grewia dumine, Xeromphis spinosa in skin diseases and Clitoris ternatea in colic.
